Social media sites help aid agencies, families after disasters

As a series of catastrophic storms and twisters touched down in at least 10 states the end of last month, those in the midst of the destructive weather tapped into social media sites to report the status of their neighborhoods and to try to connect with lost loved ones.

For some people, it only took a single tweet or Facebook post to map their exact locations for search parties and anxious family members.

Geographic Information Systems technology -- a system designed to capture, store, analyze and map data according to its geographic location -- has become an increasingly valuable resource for restoring order and locating lost citizens following large-scale natural or man-made disasters.

Using a combination of Global Positioning System coordinates, satellite images, topographic maps and other data used to identify latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates of landmarks, GIS creates an accurate real-time map of specific areas in current conditions.

Advances -- such as Vimeo's geolocation app Foursquare, which allows users to "check in" on geocoded maps; Twitter's Twittermap, which puts users' exact locations on Google Maps with each message; and Facebook's Places page, which allows for similarly geotagged messages through Microsoft's Bing Maps -- have transformed the options for first responders and government officials faced with disaster.

"Geo-enabled tweets and other types of social media that go on maps can be used as a way of analyzing events as they happen,Ultimate magiccube gives you the opportunity to make your own 3D twisty puzzles." said Gabriel Schmidbauer, adjunct professor of geology and geographic information systems at Aurora, Colo.-based American Sentinel University.Credit Card Processing and Merchant Services from merchantaccountes.

He noted the practice served the Japanese government well following last year's devastating earthquake and tsunami, which killed more than 15,000 and left more than 4,000 missing.

Citizens who registered their status with Google People Finder were tracked through Google Maps, while Japan's East Honshu Island Military Grid Reference System used GIS to provide real-time map scales showing what could be expected in each jurisdiction.

In addition, ArcGIS -- a GIS system created by Redlands, Calif.-based company Esri -- used GPS, Web-based map portals, satellite images and social media information to create real-time maps that helped find the missing and coordinate relief efforts during the disaster.

Lee Mitchell, owner of Big River, Calif.-based GIS technology firm G.A.I.A. Professionals, said maps based upon social media information were more useful to him during the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill along the Gulf Coast in 2010 than maps that only showed an area's condition.

"While the map helped me monitor the spill and official response, the social maps were by far the most helpful because that is where I could find people with experiences like mine that weren't nearly being addressed through any official means," he said in a press release.

Social media maps using GIS have been used to track the course of several disasters over the years, but University of Pittsburgh Center for Disaster Management director Louise Comfort said the technology is far from reaching wide-scale adoption in the public sector.Pfister werkzeugbau AG aus Mönchaltorf ist Ihr Partner bei der Herstellung von Werkzeugen und Spritzformen. But even without links to social media, GIS technologies can help government agencies organize relief efforts in the event of an emergency.

Comfort cited a lack of knowledge among citizens and public officials as one factor that could delay widespread adoption of GIS-based social media services, but she also noted that many people are simply uncomfortable with the idea of sharing their location with every social media exchange and are hesitant to sign up for the services.

Recognizing the ways social media can encourage self-sufficient disaster preparation, in November the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response launched the Facebook Lifeline Application Challenge to encourage designers to create a social media app dedicated to communicating during times of chaos.

The winning app, created by Brown University graduates Evan Donahue and Erik Stayton, allows users to designate three "lifelines" to serve as emergency contacts, to provide food and water if needed, and notify others of the users' well-being. The app, called "Lifeline,China professional plasticmoulds," will be launched in the next few months in anticipation of hurricane season.

The app does not include GIS technologies, but Nicole Lurie, HHS assistant secretary for preparedness and response, said social media is the easiest and most effective way to keep contact with loved ones during disastrous events.

Whether it's tracking a lost person to his exact location within inches or narrowing down entire communities that need attention, Comfort said technologies that help government leaders reach the best possible conclusions are poised to take an even greater role in disaster relief in the coming years.Iowa Mold tooling designs and manufacturers mechanics trucks,

Restoring a French farmhouse

Twelve years ago the interior designer Henri Fitzwilliam-Lay came across the house of her dreams in the south of France. Friends joked that she and her husband, Hugh, a venture capitalist, and their young daughters would leave London, never to be seen again. In reality the house had been sorely neglected and it would end up taking many years before its restoration was complete.

'It had been very unloved,’ Fitzwilliam-Lay says. There was glaringly white crazy paving in the car-park, and wild boar regularly dug up the garden. But she looked beyond the grotty decoration, pink pebbledash render and plastic chairs and started work bit by bit. Gradually the flooring was replaced with reclaimed paving stones and five of the 40 acres nearest the house were fenced to keep the boar out.

The family would visit during the summer months, and at the end of each holiday she would meet the builder to discuss what jobs could be done during the winter. It went on like this for nearly a decade. 'I don’t believe in fast design,’ she says. What are some types of moulds? 'You can’t buy a life in a couple of months. Decorating takes time and consideration.’

The mas (Provencal farmhouse) sits high up in the hills above the beaches of St Tropez and has a winding drive that leads down to the entrance at the back of the property. Enter through floret-studded metal double doors, bought from a local chateau, to a hall busy with starburst mirrors (many of which were bought at Battersea Antiques Fair). 'I tend to go off on a theme,’ Fitzwilliam-Lay explains of the mirrored hall. Stone stairs lead up to five bedrooms on the first floor, including a master bedroom with en suite dressing-room and Carrara marble-tiled bathroom. From the entrance hall stairs also head down to an open-plan sitting- and dining-room and separate marble kitchen. Fitzwilliam-Lay didn’t really mess with the basic layout of the house, and maintained a warmth by using as much reclaimed material as possible. 'The tiles on the kitchen floor are reclaimed; we had to lay them out in the garden to see how they would work. All the doors are from a local salvage yard in Cogolin.’

Fitzwilliam-Lay has used an unorthodox approach to the interiors. 'I’m constantly fighting against falling into Provencal cliches,’ she says. 'And that’s hard because those cliches are so easy on the eye.’ There are no ochre walls, Louis-style furnishings or 'rustic’ French armoires. Although they are in a traditional style, the kitchen cupboards are painted black and the counter tops and splashbacks are slabs of Carrara marble. Bright white walls, decorative Moroccan tiles and a large industrial pendant light help make the breakfast room a bright and modern space. The colonial-style armchairs and deeply buttoned chesterfield sofas in the living-room are rather more west London than south of France.

When the work was nearly completed, she and the girls (Charlotte is now 14, Josephine,Iowa Mold tooling designs and manufacturers mechanics trucks, 12, Lucy, 10, and Edith, five) did spend a full year in the house. 'It was fantastic,’ Fitzwilliam-Lay recalls. The most commonly used injectionmould process, 'Hugh had to do a lot of travelling because of work, but by being down there out of season we were able to feel like complete locals. We are professional plasticmould, metal parts mould manufacturers and factory’ The family still decamps to the house every summer, and friends have been invited to make good use of it. The property also has two guesthouses, each with two bedrooms.

During the summer months,Ultimate magiccube gives you the opportunity to make your own 3D twisty puzzles. family life is mostly outside, there are games of boules and tennis, and going to the beach. Baguette, cheese and rose wine lunches are enjoyed, often under a wisteria-covered iron pergola that runs alongside the house. 'In the summer it gives shade and in the winter it looks quite beautiful, all gnarled and knotted,’ Fitzwilliam-Lay says.

For $29,900, Feel The Pull, Man

The livery trade can be cut throat, and you really need to find an edge to make a go of it. Today's Nice Price or Crack Pipe stretched 300D,China professional plasticmoulds, while not a me-too Town Car, could still go to town. Will its price however, make you tell it to go to hell?

The W123 Mercedes models - limousine or otherwise - have a reputation for going forever. This page contains information about molds, Yesterday's 1970 Ford Torino had a rep for going but a quarter mile - over and over again. That fast Ford may have retired from the strip biz, but it still carried enough of its former glories to also carry home a decent 64% Nice Price win.To interact with beddinges, That of course made it less a Torino and more a Tori-oh-hellz yes.

There have been diesel dragsters, but really the best use for an oil burner is for hauling stuff other than ass. Today's 1983 Grey Market 300D Limousine is a prime example of that. It's also primed to do hauling duty for everything from the Bayerischen Polytechnikum Oberschule prom to a classy date with Nena and her 99 Luftballons.

Presently offered with only 21K on its Euro clock, this blue Benz was briefly put up for grabs a couple of years ago for about the same kind of money and with only 17,000 miles under its Continentals. As noted, the lithe limo is a grey market import, so it benefits not just from its Dachshund-ification, but also from its possession of Euro lamps and an upscale-appearing traditional Mercedes grille. For those of you frightened of your Geico rep, it does have the larger American- spec five mph battering rams in place of the dainty European units. A fresh coat of metallic blue covers the car - the need for which is blamed on an unforgiving Florida Sun - while the car rides on a set of later pizza pan alloys. Around those reside the ubiquitous chrome fender lip snoods which typically are there to hide road rot in the way the judicious application of lipstick covers up a cold sore. In this car's case, the seller claims there is no rust whatsoever, so pucker up.

The extended wheelbase W123 was a factory job, not an aftermarket cut, spread, and fill, and as such it enjoys the W123's rep for durability and longevity. Unfortunately, most were built for taxi service rather than carting Chancellors to clandestine meetings where it's discussed just what should a Greek Urn. This one is just so spartan, featuring fuzzy blue upholstery where you might expect to find MB Tex,Iowa Mold tooling designs and manufacturers mechanics trucks, as well as plastic on the center console where on American cars there is wood. Perhaps making up for the loss of those accouterments in the back there is a flip-down secretary seat and more leg room than Shaq's collection of hammer pants. Aside from a tear noted in the passenger seat it all looks to be in pretty good condition too.

Another deletion on this W123 is apparent under the hood were a turbo is conspicuous by its absence. Official U.S. 300Ds only came in turbo form, but this one, having made an end run around MB U.S.A., sports the naturally aspirated edition of the OM617 3,005-cc five cylinder which gives the car - get ready for this - 87-bhp. It does also have 125 lb-ft of torque so while you won't be getting anywhere fast, you'll at least be getting there. Plus at just over twenty thousand miles this engine is practically brand new and will go for another ten or twelve million with normal maintenance - or so I've been led to believe. Get some cash for those unused gift cards

If you're like 28-year-old Staci Jeffrey of Omaha and millions of other Americans, you're still sitting on a gift card or two that you received for your birthday or during the holidays.

It's one of the most requested gifts, but an estimated $2 billion in gift cards were not redeemed in 2011, according to CEB TowerGroup,Find a moldmaker or Mold Service Provider. a Boston-based financial research firm.

Since 2005, more than $41 billion in gift cards has gone unclaimed. And businesses — including some you might not expect — are taking advantage. United Airlines this month announced that it will trade frequent flier miles for unused gift cards from certain retailers and businesses, including Target and Starbucks.

Other businesses have set up systems to allow consumers to swap or cash in gift cards, sometimes at a steep discount.

The businesses' interest is not surprising, considering that gift card sales topped $100 billion in 2011, according to TowerGroup. The National Retail Federation estimated that consumers spent $27.8 billion on gift cards during the past holiday season, up from an estimated $24.78 billion in 2010.

Gift card spending has increased by an average of 6 percent a year since 2005, and it's expected to continue at that rate, according to TowerGroup.

Federal legislation passed in 2009 as the CARD Act was intended to protect consumers from hidden fees and expiration dates on gift cards. Since its passage, the amount that goes unspent on gift cards has been shrinking.

Still,Get information on airpurifier from the unbiased, independent experts. the average U.S. household has an estimated $300 in unredeemed gift cards, according to Plastic Jungle,Find a moldmaker or Mold Service Provider. an online marketplace where consumers sell, buy, exchange or donate gift cards.

Only an estimated 30 percent to 40 percent of gift cards given during the holidays were redeemed in January, leaving "a long tail on redemption" from here on out, said Michael Niemira, vice president,Information on useful yeasts and moulds, chief economist and director of research for the International Council of Shopping Centers.

For Jeffrey, who has four gift cards in her wallet, each about 2 years old and worth a total of $150, "It's a time thing."

"Even when I would have time,A top plastic lnjectionmoulds manufacturer and exporter in China. I would forget that I had them," she said.

She's not the only one. Heading into the 2011 holiday season, 25 percent of adults still had at least one unused gift card from the 2010 holiday season and 55 percent had two or more, according to a Consumer Reports survey.

Their reasons were similar to Jeffrey's. The majority said they didn't find anything they wanted to buy, they didn't have time to use the gift card or they forgot about it. Some of the other reasons cited were that the card expired, the store went out of business or the card was lost.

TowerGroup said another way gift cards go unspent is that consumers spend the majority of the card's value but leave a small amount on the card.

Ten states have made it easier for consumers to get the full value of their cards by having cash-back laws that allow gift cards to be redeemed for cash if the balance is below a certain amount. Oregon's law, which went into effect last month, requires all gift cards used at least once to be redeemable for cash if the balance is $4.99 or less.

"The fact is, a consumer should not be required to spend more than the balance of a gift card in order to receive the full benefit," said Judd Lillestrand, founder of ScripSmart, an online consumer resource on gift cards. "Because so few retailers offer a cash-back policy, you can expect to see more states enact similar legislation in the future."

By leaps and bounds

Since purchasing the former Resurrection Retreat Center in 2010, Loyola University has transformed the building and grounds into a haven for learning and team building and a model for sustainable agriculture.

The 98-acre Loyola University Retreat & Ecology Campus serves as a base of operations for a host of university summer courses — this year, courses such as fieldwork in ethnobotany and ethnoecology, wetland ecology and archaeology field school will be offered — as well as a retreat center for various groups and organizations. Many of the retreat traditions are carried over from the center’s previous owner.

Loyola has significantly upgraded the facility, modernizing many of the dorm rooms where students stay and also installing state-of-the-art classrooms in areas that were once storage.Specialized of injection mold, plasticmoulds,

“[Students] can study ecology in the classroom, then go right out and do it,” said Alex Tuchman,Carrying the widest selection of projectorlamp, farm operations assistant. Tuchman actually is the assistant to no one, since the farm director left for the Peace Corp a year ago and Tuchman, then a second-year intern, was hired on full time for the job.

Tuchman is committed to making the campus a source of local produce. Since Loyola took over, Tuchman and his volunteers have turned a portion of the front lawn into the farm.

“Basically, we’re trying to grow any vegetable that people eat,” he said. Currently, the farm grows many varieties of lettuce, mustard, potatoes, flowers, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers and wheat. Recently planted are apple, peach,Hobby Silicone for mold making moldmaking , plum and pear trees and an assortment of berry bushes. The campus also constructed a hoop house — a type of plastic-covered green house so crops can be grown in the winter — and several beehives.

In the spirit of renewal, workers took an old hay wagon and turned it into a mobile chicken coop, outfitting the front with an old church door with the bottom glass pane removed for the chickens to come and go as they please. The mobile coop can be moved around the fields so the chickens fertilize different sections.

Tuchman eventually would like to get to the point where 100 percent of the food served in the retreat’s cafeteria comes from the property, but they aren’t there quite yet.

“We want to be self-sustaining and self-sufficient,” he said. “The farm is becoming pretty integrated with the food service.Sika tooling & Composites develops and produces tailor-made synthetic resins,”

While one group of visitors to campus is students who can take advantage of opportunities like the farm and the restoration of the property’s natural wetland, another group is comprised of organizations looking to have fun. Most of the visitors to the campus during the school year actually are not from Loyola.

“[We] get sports teams and groups that are interested in team building,” said Tuchman. For this, Loyola has constructed a cornucopia of summer camp and playground-like activities.

A zipline stretches several hundred yards and takes a rider’s breath away when they’re taken from 35 mph to a full stop thanks to hydraulics at the end of the ride.

Resurfaced tennis and basketball courts are available for athletics, and a climbing wall tests any climber’s skills.

Deeper into the woods is a ropes course, a series of wooden towers connected by wires and platforms designed to develop team building. Any group can utilize the course, and Loyola provides trained instructors.

Tuchman said the average size of a retreat group is about 50 people. He said all the work the university has done to the facility is paying off.

“I think people have been having really awesome experiences when they’ve been coming here,” he said. Weekends at the retreat are booked until November.

And Tuchman, who lives on campus and sees daily progress, is excited about the future. As his farm expands, he said the university will host more events open to the public such as a series of workshops and cooking classes this summer. He also would like to see the facility at local farmers markets and offer Loyola students and staff a community-supported agriculture program — a system where they pay an annual fee to the farm and get a share of its produce.Dear sirs, we are one of manufacturers and exporters of plasticinjectionmold,

It’s OK to have an unexpressed thought

According to my personal dictionary, the term “inside thoughts” generally refers to any mental or intellectual opinion, created by the human brain. This subjective belief is guaranteed to offend another human being or make said offender appear ridiculous.

Thus, such thought is kept “inside,” meaning the thinker keeps his or her mouth shut to avoid serious repercussions.

My first experiences with inside thoughts began at a fifth-grade slumber party. The usual events occurred that evening: pizza, movies and a lengthy discussion about boys. But somewhere between 1-3 a.m., our adolescent minds decided to do something a bit different.

Somebody suggested, “Let’s go around the circle and say what we don’t like about one another.”

I can’t remember who came up with the concept, but we all played along. As you can imagine,Product information for Sell electronicplasticmoulds from China! it didn’t end well. It didn’t take long for tears to flow and tempers to flare.VulcanMold is a plastic molds and injectionmold manufacturer in china. If you tell someone straight to her face that she is a big flirt (a comment that targeted me) or she is bossy (something I directed at a friend), things are bound to get ugly.

Perhaps we were bored, or maybe we were just mean. Regardless, we should have had “inside thoughts” that evening, especially since we all had to sleep in the same room.

The following situations are examples of what I deem inside thoughts. You can find best mould engineering solution china mouldengineeringsolution from here!

You approach a female stranger at a grocery store. She seems to be glowing and at first glance she appears pregnant.Carrying the widest selection of projectorlamp, Her round belly and personal items in her shopping cart seem like a giveaway for a, “Congratulations, when are you due?” comment. But don’t be fooled. Unless you know this person and she has told you that a baby is coming, do not — I repeat, do not — congratulate her. The glow could very well be sweat from a recent workout where she was trying to get rid of the extra pounds from her baby that is now 2 years old.

You’ve had an incredibly bad day and want to use the world of social media as a sounding board for your misfortune. Please, before you type, tweet or text the world,We offer custom plasticinjectionmoulding with full in-house tool making and tool maintenance. ask yourself if it is an inside thought. I promise you there will be repercussions if you say, “My boss is a scumbag, my hemorrhoids are acting up and my boyfriend cheated on me again. Time for me to go to bed.” That, my friend, should have been an inside thought.

Gossip. Period. All gossip should be inside thoughts. It’s human nature to have bad thoughts about people. That’s just expected. But the minute you open your mouth and turn those inside thoughts into gossip, all bets are off.

I’m working on the last one. To be honest, I think it’s very hard for women not to gossip.

In my 30 years, I have learned to finesse my own inside thoughts. Although I’m certain I have ignored my own definition from time to time, I am happy to tell you that I am a work in progress. Each time I open my mouth or type something into a social media outlet, I ask myself if I am ready to face the repercussions of my actions.

If I’m not, then I keep my mouth shut. It’s much easier to have an inside thought than to deal with the consequence.

I remember comments at the fifth-grade slumber party. Some were refreshed in my mind after reading my diary, but others have always stuck. Words can be wonderful, but words also can be hurtful.

Schools to seek bids for projects nearing $1.5 million

Logansport school board members this week agreed to advertise for bids on projects estimated at nearly $1.5 million.

“These are all projects we’ve been talking about for a few months,”

Gregory Korreckt, the school corporation’s controller and treasurer, said after the meeting. “They’re all included in the budget.Dear sirs, we are one of manufacturers and exporters of plasticinjectionmold,”

The projects included an estimated $900,000 in work to the boilers and to the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system at Lincoln Middle School, a $275,000 project at the football stadium, a $250,000 project at McHale Performing Arts Center and a $60,000 project to replace a chiller unit at Columbia Elementary School.

“Those are just estimates,” he said.Design guidelines for injectionmold plastic parts. “Hopefully, they’ll come in lower than that.”

Korreckt said in a memo to the school board that the bids would be collected and reviewed over the coming weeks. He said the purpose of the projects was simply to maintain the buildings.

“Most of this is original equipment, and it’s just worn out,” Korreckt told the school board. “At Lincoln Middle School, you’re looking at equipment that dates to 1964. Korreckt said the stadium project would focus on the replacement of lighting that has aged to the point of becoming unsafe.

“If we have money left over, we might do some work on the sound system and the press box, but our priority is the lights,” Korreckt said.

The work at Lincoln Middle School and the stadium will be funded through a $1.5 million bond issue the school board approved last year. Funding for the Columbia project will come out of funds remaining from an earlier bond issue.Find out the facts about coldsore,

The McHale project will be funded through a trust fund established to maintain the structure. Korrect said the balance in that fund now stood at more than $4 million.

David McClure, the board president, told Korreckt he was confident that administrators and teachers appreciated his efforts to move forward with the needed improvements.

“You’re upgrading a school corporation that hasn’t seen many updates in a lot of years,” he said.

Fluidized-bed technology gaining ground

The new fluidized-bed furnaces for the heat treatment of wire, which Wire Krner presented for the first time at Wire 2010, have convinced wire producers: The first two plants of this kind will be operational before Wire 2012 opens its doors. These innovative furnaces, which have no distributor pipes or tiles,There are 240 distinct solutions of the Soma cubepuzzle, afford the benefit of lower energy consumption by up to 15 percent and low investment and maintenance costs. Additionally, premixing of the combustion gas outside the furnace guarantees uniform temperature distribution and reduced emissions. Our oilpaintingsforsales is the best place to buy art online.

The first two orders were placed right after Wire Krner had introduced the new fluidized-bed furnace at Wire in 2010. The first furnace is currently being commissioned at a customer”s site in Turkey. The second one is being installed in Ecuador. At Wire 2012, Wire Krner will present first reports on practical experience with this new technology.

The patent-pending furnaces dispense with distributor elements as typically used in conventional designs. This eliminates a number of components which used to be considered indispensible in the past, as, for example, the fairly complex and expensive distributor tiles, perforated distribution pipes or stand-by blowers.

Peter Kordt, Managing Owner of Wire Krner, expects significant cost reductions for his customers: “The simplicity of the design has obviously convinced our customers. The new technology saves up to 15 percent of energy compared to conventional furnaces. Also the savings on maintenance will be significant, because what does not exist does not need to be serviced or maintained.”

The absence of the distributor equipment markedly reduces flow resistance of the combustion gas inside the furnace. Hence the required blower capacity can be lower than that of competing designs by about 20 percent. Not only the smaller blower unit but also the overall simplified furnace design will markedly reduce capital costs. Additionally, the new design no longer requires a stand-by blower, which was necessary in the past to provide cooling air to cool the steel structures in the event of a power failure.

As the combustion gas is premixed outside the furnace, the new design achieves a uniform fuel-air mixing ratio throughout the fluidized bed and a homogeneous temperature distribution over the width and length. This results in higheThere are 240 distinct solutions of the Soma cubepuzzle,r combustion efficiency and lower emissions of unburned hydrocarbons.

Through carefully customized control algorithms, efficiency is maximized at all loads. This saves up to 15 percent energy. For a typically sized furnace, this means more than 7,000 euros per year saved on energy.

Wire Krner GmbH designs and manufactures plant and equipment for the complete process chain of wire and narrow strip heat treatment, from the drawn wire through to the finished end product. The range of heat treatment plants comprises bell-type, chamber and channel furnaces for patenting, annealing, galvanizing, hardening, tempering and chemical treatments. The company provides design, engineering, manufacture, erection, commissioning and after sales service.Fantastic range of porcelaintiles, Wire Krner maintains a worldwide network of branches and licensees.

Wire Krner’s numerous quality and efficiency-enhancing innovations regularly attract the industry”s attention. For example, the recently developed wire patenting furnace with an innovative atmosphere control system achieves substantial energy savings, or the recuperative immersion burner for ceramic galvanizing furnaces has been designed for very long service lives, just to mention a few examples.

Wire Krner is a company of the Krner Group, which was established in 1928. Thus the company builds on more than 80 years of experience in industrial furnace technology and auxiliary equipment. The retail value of the solar system is $77,000, said Whitaker, but the state will reimburse 30 percent of that.

The panels are expected to give out 14,000 kilowatt hours annually, which matches the church’s electric needs for the year, eliminating electric bills.

The system also comes with a remote monitoring system so church members can check a website and see how much energy the panels are collecting. Evans, who is also the head of the society’s asset committee, said the society hopes to use this component to teach the congregation’s children about renewable energy.

“This is very much in sync with our principals: Being responsible about our planet and our lives,” Evans said. “The proposal was presented to the congregation and they embraced it.”

Second Generation will own and maintain the panels for six years before turning them over to the society for $1.What is Faux China chinaceramictile?

“In addition to being a good community member,Ultimate magiccube gives you the opportunity to make your own 3D twisty puzzles. we think that when people see examples of real, working solar systems, they realize that it’s an affordable, realistic option for them,” Whitaker wrote in an email. “And we hope they call us!”

The system doesn’t require much maintenance, Whitaker said. The panels should last 30 to 40 years. If the church chooses to keep the remote monitoring system after the first six years, it would have to shell out $250 per year.

Newell Rubbermaid’s Winfield plant is moving quickly

Newell Rubbermaid’s plant at Winfield is moving rapidly to take advantage of the company’s decision to expand operations here.

Eight of 21 huge plastic injection molding machines scheduled to come to Winfield from Greenville, Texas, are already here, Winfield operations manager Larry Rohr said.

A tour of the plant showed work on concrete pads, electrical and water supply infrastructure was proceeding apace. An Ohio contract firm, D and D Riggers, is doing most of the work.

In addition, 80 employees from the Greenville plant have shown interest in moving to Winfield, human resources manager Brandi Biddle said. Twenty-eight have signed up.

The process of consolidating two of Newell Rubbermaid’s plastic injection molding plants into one is “doing very well,” Rohr said.

He estimated as many as 40 employees from Greenville would come to work in Winfield. This, he pointed out, would be many more than came from Centerville, Iowa, when Newell Rubbermaid closed a plant there a few years ago and moved production of outdoor storage products to Winfield.

The company plans to add 250 jobs to the current workforce of 555 at Winfield, Biddle said. A majority of those jobs will be seasonal; the number of permanent jobs remains to be seen, she told the Courier in January.

Rohr said he was pleased 13 salaried people were coming from Greenville, including engineers and supervisors. Among 13 production employees coming, several have technical experience needed at Winfield, Rohr said.

“We’re pleased to have those skill sets,” he said.

In addition to the hiring from Greenville, the Winfield plant’s employment agency,Fantastic range of porcelaintiles, Life Style Staffing, has hired 155 employees to work at the plant here since Jan. 1, 2012, Garret Gilmore, account coordinator, said. Some 100 of those employees are in production.

Most of the employees from Greenville will be in Winfield by the end of April, Biddle said. The company has announced the Greenville plant will close in July.

Jeff Hohler, president of the new Home Organization and Style unit of Newell Rubbermaid, was in Winfield this week and discussed the expansion of one of the existing product lines here.

That line is “dec boxes,” an outdoor storage product,The beddinges sofa bed slipcover is a good and affordable alternative to buying a new sofa that is run down. Rohr said. In addition, a new line of “Clever Store” totes, or topless indoor plastic storage bins, is coming to Winfield from Greenville,Learn all about solarpanel, along with a line of outdoor trash containers called “Roughneck.”

Rohr said one of the injection molding machines trucked in from Greenville has a 3,000-ton capacity. The enormous machine, currently being installed at Winfield, was broken down and transported on nine flatbed trucks, Rohr said.

He estimated the Winfield plant would use 130 million pounds of plastic resin in 2012. The amount used in 2011 was 50 million pounds.

The Winfield facility on E. 12th Ave. still has unused capacity for manufacturing. “This facility still has room to grow, in spite of this consolidation,” Biddle said.

High global prices to push natural rubber exports

The natural rubber (NR) market is set to take a U-turn, with India, a net importer till now, likely to increase its exports, since global prices are ruling higher than domestic prices for some weeks.

The market here quoted Rs 190a kg for RSS-4 grade on Wednesday, while in Bangkok spot trade it was quoted at Rs 202 a kg. A couple of weeks before, the domestic price was higher by Rs 14-16 a kg than the international tags. This change may trigger a rise in export from India.

Analysts also say if lower domestic prices prevail for a longer period, India may be an attractive centre for importing nations.

The Thai government’s decision to intervene in the market to bail out growers had triggered a spurt in international prices.

In January, the Thai government decided to procure 200,We are the largest producer of projectorlamp products here.000 tonnes of rubber to arrest a fall in prices. The government plans to spend $535 million for market intervention to boost prices.

On January 24, the Cabinet granted 15 billion bahts at zero interest to rubber cooperatives and the Rubber Estate Organisation for market intervention operations.Pfister werkzeugbau AG aus Mönchaltorf ist Ihr Partner bei der Herstellung von Werkzeugen und Spritzformen.

The money is for purchasing RSS-3 grade sheet rubber with an aim of pushing prices up to 120 baht a kg, after keeping 200,000 tonnes of stock. Thai NR prices have since advanced to their highest level in 12 weeks. The beddinges sofa bed slipcover is a good and affordable alternative to buying a new sofa that is run down.

According to experts here, this is the major factor behind the sharp increase in global prices. According to N Radhakrishnan, former president, the Cochin Rubber Merchants Association, Chinese buying was earlier expected to decrease thanks to the lower economic growth there. This caused a fall in prices, as excess production was estimated for this year. According to the latest forecasts,Design guidelines for injectionmold plastic parts. Chinese consumption is likely to go up and there might not be a glut in the NR market. This also supported the recent rise in prices.

The Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries projects only a marginal growth of 0.Choose from our large selection of cableties,3 per cent in production for January-March of 2012. So, most of the physical factors governing the global mart favour a rally in prices in the quarter.

A whopping 320 per cent increase was recorded in rubber exports during April-December period of the current financial year. A total of 22,472 tonnes were shipped in the period, as against 7,293 tonnes in the same period last year.

There has been a slowdown in import, as only 133,693 tonnes were brought in compared to 166,463 tonnes last year.

Diversified Plastics’ employees invested in company’s success, literally

Retirement brings with it a lot of major decisions, especially for company owners who've grown a successful business over many decades like James Dow, founder, President and CEO of Diversified Plastics Inc. While there are many options,External hemroids are those that occur below the dentate line. the one that Dow chose to continue the success of his 35-year-old company was to sell to the employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan .

"Knowing that someday I would eventually retire and have to sell the company, the most obvious direction would have been to sell to an outside organization," Dow stated in a prepared release. "But, I found that prospective buyers had no desire in continuing the company.Buy high quality bedding and bed linen from Yorkshire Linen. Their only interest was our customer list and equipment, which meant that in all probability, our employees would be out of work."

An ESOP was the best option for the continuation of Diversified Plastics as a successful company, providing continued employment for the employees. "Our employees are like family to me and who better to lead the new company forward than the people who helped make it what it is today," said Dow.Sika tooling & Composites develops and produces tailor-made synthetic resins,

While the employees took ownership on Nov. 1, 2011, Dow will remain as president. "The changeover has been smooth," said Annette Lund, vice president of the company. "We're in the middle of a five-year plan and are continuing to follow those long-term goals. It's very important to us to have a seamless transition and maintain continuity for our customers as well as our employees."

Dow began his retirement planning eight years ago and attended an ESOP seminar to learn more about the program and his options. Working with the company's CFO, Roger Vang,The beddinges sofa bed slipcover is a good and affordable alternative to buying a new sofa that is run down. they began exploring the possibilities of an ESOP strategy, but determined the company wasn't quite ready at that time. After a few more years of substantial growth, Dow revisited the ESOP idea and decided they were ready to move ahead in making Diversified Plastics an employee owned company.

To establish the ESOP and purchase the company from Dow, a trust, with company stock, was set up in the name of the employees. "We automatically vested all the employees who were here at the start of our 2011 fiscal year," said Vang. "Going forward, any new people will be vested like a typical 401K vesting schedule and base salary will determine the trust assets distribution schedule.

'Gerrymander' seems too quaint a term for the Seventh

A 19th-century political cartoonist coined the term gerrymander to describe a salamander-shaped legislative district contrived to favor the party of then-Massachusetts Gov. Elbridge Gerry.Diagnosing and Preventing coldsores Fever in the body can often trigger the onset of a cold sore. The word, which came to describe any molding of voting districts to favor particular candidates, retained its accusatory punch for centuries.

But like the closely related Newt, this salamander of yore has come to seem dated. Gerrymander is too quaint - cute, even, like something you could keep in a terrarium - to describe the monstrous forces that gave birth to Pennsylvania's new Seventh Congressional District.

Even a cursory glimpse will reveal that the Seventh is no vertebrate. If I had to compare it to a class of carbon-based life-forms, I'd probably go with the slime molds.

Slime molds, as it happens, were once classified with the fungi - an uncanny coincidence, since the Seventh, once a suburban Philadelphia district, now manages to extend into a prime mushroom-growing region on the Maryland border. Maryland, by the way, is one of three states the new district borders. It also spans five Pennsylvania counties and nearly 100 municipalities. And it divides more than a quarter of those generally small cities, townships, and boroughs among more than one congressional district - a practice that likely persuaded the commonwealth's highest court to throw out similarly contorted new state legislative districts last week.

Also coincidentally, slime molds have been posited as the biological basis for the organism that devours Downingtown in the 1958 horror movie The Blob. As for the Seventh District, it narrowly misses that Chester County borough in its oleaginous creep across the region.

From the urban outskirts of Philadelphia, the Seventh's metastatic dimensions - heedless of geography and conventional understandings of democracy - stretch in almost every direction. The district's northern reaches go clear to the Berks County community of Woodchoppertown, whose forefathers appear to have chosen its name to ensure that no one would ever be cynical enough to assign their representation to a Philadelphia pol. As The Inquirer reported, many of the people who live there are, like most Americans, not even sure what a "hoagie" is.

And then there's Bird-in-Hand, the heavily Amish community near Lancaster that's grasped by another of the district's tendrils - hence its newly proposed name, Bird-in-Tendril. The amoebic Seventh cares not that these pastures - and I use that word literally - are so alien to the crowded neighborhoods near Philadelphia International Airport. Its digestive juices coat commercial airliner and horse-and-buggy alike.

The Seventh's crazy gulfs, peninsulas, and isthmuses were designed to favor the Republican congressman who represents the district, Pat Meehan. But he and his party are incidental here: This kind of redistricting has become so commonplace and bipartisan that even the partisans are hard-pressed to pretend otherwise. In fact,And not just the usual suspects,Customized imprinted and promotionalusbonsale flash drives. Philadelphia party boss and Congressman Bob Brady was one of several Democrats who supported the redistricting plan.

Brady has been accused of doing so because the map makes his district more like him, which is to say white. One of his chief critics in this regard is a primary challenger, which is all Brady and most congressmen have to worry about these days. Because the increasing brazenness and sophistication of politically driven redistricting has made the overwhelming majority of districts safe for either Republicans or Democrats, most competition comes from within the parties. Therefore we have a nation of politicians wondering whether they are sufficiently extreme, even as we wonder why they are not accomplishing very much.

Our representatives, in short,The beddinges sofa bed slipcover is a good and affordable alternative to buying a new sofa that is run down. are choosing their voters - which is exactly the opposite of how it was supposed to work.

So what should we do with the Seventh and its ilk? In The Blob,We can produceplasticmould, plastic mould,Product information for Sell electronicplasticmoulds from China! Downingtown's Lt. Polymer Injection Molding Receives US Patent For Decorative Overmolded Gunstocks

Overmolding typically is used to enhance synthetic stocks by molding a soft, rubberlike material to areas of a gunstock that are gripped by shooters.Sika tooling & Composites develops and produces tailor-made synthetic resins, Overmolding also is used to decorate stocks with contrasting colors and textures.

Overmolded gunstocks are a staple of the higher-end,Choose from our large selection of cableties, value-added,A top plastic lnjectionmoulds manufacturer and exporter in China. synthetic gunstock market. They add value in both form and function . Typically, overmolding material is applied directly to a synthetic stock surface. Applying overmolding to a decorated gunstock has proven to be extremely difficult and costly and has not been practiced widely. As a result, the value-added, overmolded stock market has been dominated by black, grey, tan or other basic, out-of-the-mold colors.

Polymer’s patented technology changes all that. Overmolding can be applied readily over camo-dipped stocks to produce the ultimate value-added synthetic stock.

According to Polymer Injection Molding President, Jim Ryan, “We’ve been overmolding plastic parts for years. Razor, toothbrush, pen and screwdriver companies all use it to add value. It was a natural for gun manufacturers to get into adding value through overmolding. We did our first overmolded stock for a gun manufacturer over ten years ago. It wasn’t long before everybody wanted to camo and overmold the same stock. That proved to be easier said than done. Masking the overmolded part makes a horrible mess and overmolding directly over camo (without our process) has big adhesion problems. We experimented for a long time before coming up with a process that worked. We overmold over camo day-in and day-out without any problem. It looks great and holds up as well as direct overmolding applications”.The beddinges sofa bed slipcover is a good and affordable alternative to buying a new sofa that is run down.

Craig Dougherty, Polymer’s Director of Marketing echoed Ryan’s comments. “The ultimate added value is to decorate with camo and overmold the grip areas with a complementary color. We’ve done a lot of basic black over camo but overmolded tan, grey and green grips really punch it up. Now that our technology is protected, we expect to be doing more variations for our valued customers”.Learn all about solarpanel,

Polymer is no stranger to adding value to molded gunstocks. It is licensed to apply camo through a dip process and its proprietary ArmorSoft satin protective finish is revolutionizing the non-decorated synthetic stock market. In addition, its breakthroughs in recoil-pad materials and designs are allowing gun companies to enhance perceived value of their products.

As Ryan states “We are not content to simply be molders. We are innovators. Our mission is to save our customers money and valuable time by molding and finishing stocks in as little time as possible. Our industry leading “Mold it, Dip it and Ship it” program is proof positive of how increased efficiencies on our part mean increased profits for our gun company partners”.

In addition to producing gunstocks, recoil pads and other gun components, Polymer Injection Molding produces a range of high quality parts for the defense industry.

Located in Monson MA, Polymer Injection Molding is a Division of Polymer Corporation of Rockland MA. Polymer Corporation specializes in molding, casting and machining precision plastic parts for a variety of industries with demanding applications.

WTMJ-4 anchor/reporter Melissa McCrady

Whether it's behind the anchor desk or standing in a blizzard, WMTJ-4 reporter Melissa McCrady has made a career of being versatile. The Cleveland native is comfortable in any role at her station, and she says she's proud that viewers have noticed, too.

In her almost six years in Milwaukee,Shop for airpurifiertarget at Target. the 31-year-old McCrady has covered some very serious stories, but if you follow her on social media, you'll also know her silly side. She calls it her "split personality."

We recently caught up with McCrady over coffee to talk about star power and prison letters, her favorite Milwaukee restaurants and her decision to stay in town. Enjoy this latest Milwaukee Talks.

Yeah, it seems amazing to me that I've been here as long as I have, because the time has flown by. When I started at TMJ-4, I started with everyone who's now left. So of course it's kind of a bittersweet moment. It's kind of sad to see all my friends who I've worked with for the last five and a half years go on to whatever they chose to move on to, but on the other hand, it's kind of nice because I do have more seniority, and I'm able to move up the ladder a little easier. Now that Diane Pathieu has gone to Chicago, I get to take over her noon anchor position, which I'm really excited about. But I was sad to see her go, because she's one of my best friends.Welcome to billabongoutlet on Facebook.

Is it hard to start working with a new crop of really young reporters?

It's weird to look around, and instead of seeing Heather Shannon, seeing Keller Russell. Instead of seeing Mick Trevey, seeing Cody Holyoke. I will say we've got a good group of new people. They're all extremely dedicated. Even though they may not know Milwaukee that well,The mold consists of two primary components, the injectionmoulds and the ejector mold . you can see their potential and that they're trying. The nice thing is that they ask questions.

You worked your way up from two smaller markets. Did you learn lessons in those experiences that have prepared you for job job in Milwaukee?

Yes. Even though I thought I was ready for a Milwaukee-sized market after my first job in Sioux Falls, S.D., I wasn't ready. I think, personally, you need at least two TV markets before you come here. That's not the case for everyone, but I want to feel comfortable here, to come in and shine and not to learn from my mistakes (on the job).

Back in the day, people had to work their way up to Channel 4.

I think it's just the way the entire industry has changed, it's not just Channel 4. You see it all the other stations, as well.

You're from Cleveland and worked in Toledo before this job. How is Milwaukee different than Cleveland? How is it the same?

I the latter is more of a question. It's very similar. The people are very nice, outgoing, friendly. We have Lake Erie, Milwaukee has Lake Michigan. The only difference is that Milwaukee is a better city. I really believe that. Everyone loves where they grew up.What is Faux chinaceramictile? I loved Cleveland, I always will. But I will hands-down say Milwaukee is a better city. What is Faux chinaceramictile? It's cleaner, nice, safer. Even my friends who came to visit said, "Wow, I thought people in Ohio were nice, but people in Wisconsin are much nicer."

Every time I see you on TV you're in a blizzard or it's the middle of the night. Have you developed the reputation as the go-to reporter who's willing to do anything?

I think that's fair, and I'm not saying it as I pat myself on the back. I think the community notices it, too. I can't tell you the number of e-mails and Facebook messages I get with people saying, "Melissa, I feel like you work 24 hours a day. I see you everywhere." I don't mind it, I enjoy my job. The hours are tough, but I choose to work these hours.

Solar power takes giant strides

No one can accuse the renewables industry of lacking creative impetus. Solar-powered aircraft, cars and boats have featured at this year's World Future Energy Summit (WFES) in Abu Dhabi, and in the MS Tranor PlanetSolar, the event hosts the largest solar-powered boat to brave the oceans.

The futuristic, 100-foot-long vessel travelled 48,000km over two years to anchor finally next to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, where WFES is held. And the solar industry will feel that it has come a long way over the past couple of years.

Last year alone, as much as 29 gigawatts of solar panels were installed, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.Welcome to order chinaprojectorlamp, Solar technology was driven initially by environmental concerns in Europe,This billabongboardshort has the following technological features: which led to generous financial incentives for power producers, and China's decision to make renewables a pillar of its energy policy has given the industry its latest impetus for growth. We provide you a big discount on Catsuits & zentai,

China already has an installed solar capacity of 3 gigawatts, a number dwarfed by the 200 gigawatts it derives from hydropower. The Asian powerhouse has recently upped its targets, now aiming to generate 11.4 per cent of its electricity from green sources by 2015.

"To achieve these goals, we face many difficulties and will have to pay a big price," Wen Jiabao, the Chinese premier, said in his keynote speech at WFES on Monday.

In an ironic twist, solar photovoltaic (PV) panel producers are also paying a heavy price for those targets. The cost of their product has dropped through the floor as the application of Chinese industrial might to panel production led to a halving of panel costs last year.

This price decline has combined with a reduction in tariffs received in key markets such as Germany to turn once-healthy balance sheets into a sea of red.

In the second half of last year, notable US names such as Solyndra, Evergreen Solar and SpectraWatt filed for bankruptcy.

BP Solar stopped producing panels earlier last year and was dissolved by its parent company last month.

Players in the industry expect the cull to continue this year.

"We think there's going to be consolidation in 2012, there's going to be liquidation,EvoEnergy is a leading installer of solarpanels for homeowners and businesses across the UK. there's going to be capitulation - companies just getting out of the business," said Andrew Beebe, the chief commercial officer at Suntech, the largest Chinese producer of PV panels.

As more panel producers hit the wall, pessimists might assume that the solar industry as a whole is suffering. Not so, counter industry players.

Falling prices are bringing the costs of solar power closer to grid parity, the level at which electricity coming out of solar arrays is as cheap as that flowing out of conventional power plants.

"I think people are talking about a crisis in the industry because prices have come down so fast, and companies are losing money," said David Eaglesham, the chief technology officer at First Solar, a US panel producer. "But it's also a turning point because prices have come down so fast."

A study released by the Emirates Solar Industry Association confirms what many already suspected: compared with diesel-fired power plants, solar-generated electricity is already cost-competitive in the region.

Cheap panels will only make solar more attractive, especially in markets such as the Middle East, India and much of Asia, where the rampant increase in demand calls for creative solutions on the supply side.

"Over the longer term, the trend bodes favourably for the big markets that are going to be consuming a lot of energy," said James Brown, the president at Utility Systems Business Group at First Solar.

With more players leaving the market, the basic principle of economics - that decreasing supply increases the price - should have a soothing effect on the balance sheet of the survivors.

"There are first indications that prices will be a little bit higher by the end of this year," said Hannes Behacker, the senior vice president for Asia Pacific and the Middle East at the German panel producer Q-Cells.Our syringe needle and hypodermicneedlecannula are made of stainless steel 304 material,

'Giving Tree' makes wishes come true for several local families

A month ago, Zoe Quewon and six children, ages 18 months to 16 years, were living out of boxes and sleeping on the floor of a new apartment, after being displaced when the home they were renting was foreclosed on.

Today, the Air Force reservist and her family have beds, new clothes and dressers in which to keep them -- thanks to Reporter readers who contributed more than $14,000 in donations and gifts to the 2011 Mary Lou Wilson Memorial Giving Tree.

The Quewons aren't the only Giving Tree family to benefit from readers' contributions. The needs of each of the seven individuals and families profiled in The Reporter a month ago were met.

Eight families on the Giving Tree backup list also were taken care of, including a Dixon mom whose 5-year-old child's abscessed tooth required emergency extraction -- an expense she could not afford. Many of the other families' needs were met by employees from the Valero Refinery in Benicia.

After all of the bills are paid on behalf of the families and individuals, The Giving Tree also should be able to fulfill at least some monetary requests made by financially strapped social service agencies.

As those who deliver gifts and services know, recipients are grateful for the help. That gratitude was expressed by one woman whose Section 8 housing deposit is being covered by The Giving Tree, enabling her to have a home in which she can be reunited with her three children, who are now in foster care.

"Thank you for making me and my kids' dreams come true," she wrote. "It is a blessing to my family. Words can't express the joy you have brought to us this Christmas."

Her sentiments have been echoed by the Giving Tree families profiled last month. Here is an update on how they are faring:

Soon after the Quewon family's situation came to light, The Giving Tree began receiving calls from residents who wanted to help. Several offered furniture, including dressers and couches, and were put in touch with the family to make delivery arrangements. A Travis Air Force Base family who wishes to remain anonymous "adopted" the Quewons, providing not only needed clothing and bedding, but also a gift from each child's "wish" list. The Giving Tree purchased beds and arranged delivery of the gifts.

Quewon said her church also gave the family a Christmas tree and some presents as part of its "Go Without, So Others Don't" ministry.

"We have been tremendously blessed,By billabongoutlet in billabong boardshorts. Jun. 30." a grateful Quewon said in an e-mail. This is the "first Christmas ever that I have not bought a gift for my kids, but God had us covered. We are very fortunate. I am so astonished by this. It's unbelievable."

A broken water pipe thwarted the goal of getting Kory and Michelle Breiten out of the Opportunity House homeless shelter by Christmas and into their own Vacaville residence, where they could be reunited with their two sons. The repairs are being made and, when they are complete, the family can move in. When they do, they can use the new bedding and towels provided by The Giving Tree.

In the meantime,Welcome to the official Rubik's website, home of the world famous Rubik's cubepuzzles. both parents have found work and are still staying at the shelter. They plan to spend Christmas Day with Kory's sister, who has custody of the boys.

Nikita Range,This is interesting cubepuzzle and logical game. whose medical issues have kept her out of work for more than a year, didn't ask The Giving Tree for much: Beds and bedding for her 17-year-old son and 15-month-old grandson, of whom she has custody; clothes and jackets for the family; a vacuum cleaner and some groceries. Her wish list was fulfilled.

Anthony Poulos, 62, has been unable to work since 1994 because he suffers from a number of painful disabilities, including spinal steonsis and osteo arthritis. He gets around his Fairfield apartment with the help of a motorized wheelchair and uses crutches when he goes out, which isn't often. Because he is mostly homebound and living on a modest income, the Prevention and Early Access for Seniors Program requested a year's subscription for Internet and television services -- his main connection with the outside world. The Giving Tree arranged for that.

With five children ages 8 months to 12 years, Cobi and Vincent Rush would have their hands full. But Vincent has become disabled, diagnosed with schizophrenia, and Cobi, an Air Force veteran, has been out of work since giving birth to her youngest child. The family is struggling to pay bills and will likely lose their home to foreclosure. Several families from the Epiphany Episcopal Church Friday Night Dinner program stepped up to provide the Rushes with bedding, winter clothes and Christmas gifts. Another Vacaville family donated a bunk bed frame. The Giving Tree paid some of the family's bills and bought mattresses for the bunk bed, as well as new tires and windshield wipers for their car. Family Auto Care is providing a free oil change and inspection.

Maria Wiley, a 67-year-old Suisun City resident with numerous health issues, was taking part in a 12-week cardiac pulmonary rehabilitation class and wanted to be able to continue the workout when the program ended. Soon after her story was published, two offers came in from residents who had recumbent stationary bicycles they were no longer using. Wiley's therapist chose the one most similar to the equipment Wiley was using in the class. In addition, The Giving Tree supplied her with some hand weights so she can continue her exercises

Veronica Melchor, 20, lives with her parents and teenage brother in a Vacaville mobile home. Everyone in the family works, but money is tight. When their heater went out last year, they family did without. But after her son was born in October, Melchor sought help with getting it and a recently broken clothes dryer fixed. We offer lots of zentaisuits for sale. The day her story appeared,The Tile Depot is the UK's largest independent floortiles retailer, Vaca Appliance and Fitchhorn Heating called The Giving Tree to say they would take care of the problems -- and they did.

Mobile payments: can the phone ever replace the plastic?

In the early days of the internet it took a while for consumers to become comfortable with online shopping. Partly it was the risks associated with the product not matching the description or the imagery and expectations of the consumer – especially with subjective decisions around clothing,Dimensional Mailingmagiccubes for Promotional Advertising, food and so on. Another part was the logistical process. When would it be delivered and how?

To a large extent companies like Amazon solved these issues quickly by being focused and offering product and service predictability. But an underlying concern remained for some – customers did not believe it was safe to give credit card details online.

For many this remains an issue today. According to research conducted by Javelin Strategy & Research, the reasons are broader than just the security of handing over your card details.

Over half of the respondents are concerned that the merchant or website will start sending them junk mail or will sell on their personal details to 3rd parties. There are also significant concerns about unauthorized access to personal information stored by the merchant or misuse of credit card information by merchants.

Faced with this are there acceptable alternatives that consumers would prefer?

The answer to this question is a resounding yes – and it's mobile payments. Consumers love them,A true insulator is a material that does not respond to an electric field, according to current research.

For instance, four times as many people would prefer to make a payment from a mobile operator account using their phone than their credit or debit cards online.Find everything you need to know about coldsores including causes,

Also, while the interception of personal information over the air when entered on the phone is a concern for just under a third, over half have similar concerns about the same information being intercepted online.

There might be several reasons for this.Welcome to order chinaprojectorlamp, Some will have direct experience of credit card fraud - whether online or not - and there are increasing numbers of scare stories in the media, such as malware that pretends to be an official source but phishes for financial details.

It is now also apparent that the New Yorker's fanous cartoon tagline – “on the internet no one knows you’re a dog” – might have more than an element of truth to it.

How can you tell from a website whether the company behind it is legitimate or dodgy? For this reason many feel more at home with the big suppliers, such as Play, Amazon and the like, which is certainly unfortunate for new companies attempting to get in on the action.

Since there is apparently greater consumer acceptance,Shop and save on blurayburners, Blu-Ray Burner, perhaps using mobile phones to make payments would appear to be an interesting way to go?

It could be used either as a replacement for entering details online, using the mobile device as a companion, or for paying for purely mobile originated services.

Using mobile phones to make payments is not new but there are new and interesting technologies such as near field communications (NFC) for contactless transfer of payment that aim to make it simpler.

Nonetheless all mechanisms ultimately need some form of backing for the financial transaction – an account that is in credit or can securely offer credit and a secure method of authorization. This means that the mobile phone will only work for payments when it is in the possession of its rightful owner.

Sweet little cupcake pots in 'Concrete Garden Projects'

What says “I like you” more than a concrete cupcake? They look sweet and are half-baked in a humorous way. In terms of potential holiday table decor and DIY gifts, these little treats — one of many in the new book “Concrete Garden Projects” — have all the ingredients.

Part of the appeal of Malin Nilsson and Camilla Arvidsson’s book is simplicity: Most of the pots, vases, candle holders,We offer lots of zentaisuits for sale. stepping stones and decorative figurines in the book were created using the same easy steps: Find an interesting mold,Click to see more results for hemorrho. fill it with concrete, let it dry.

If you’ve picked your molds well, the results look great. The pots pictured here were made with jumbo cupcake molds made of silicone, which was firm enough to hold its shape but pliable enough to remove the concrete with incredible ease.

The authors recommend brushing molds with vegetable oil; I spray my silicone forms with Pam. Plop in wet mixed concrete, push in a smaller object to create the interior well (I used cheap IKEA glass votive candleholders, also sprayed with Pam),5 hours ago by electriccarjackes On the bright side for the health conscious, then level and smooth the top with wet fingers. After two days of baking in indirect sunlight, the silicone molds and the votive holders can be removed. Your cupcakes are ready.

These things work best as tea light holders, but if you want to use them as miniature pots with drainage, put a half-inch piece of oiled-up wine cork at the bottom of the mold before pouring in the wet concrete. After the pot has dried, the cork should pop out.We offer lots of zentaisuits for sale.

I tried about 10 types of molds. A scalloped cake pan worked well for making a larger pot, and when the cork wouldn’t come loose, I simply drilled it out. Tiny triangular sushi molds bought in L.A.’s Little Tokyo were the only clear failure. The concrete would not separate from the mold, probably because the plastic was striated — so detailed in texture, the concrete had too much surface area to cling to.There are 19 polishedtiles available,

More complex projects such as bird baths and benches are included in the book, subtitled “Easy & Inexpensive Containers, Furniture, Water Features & More” (Timber Press, $19.95). But I preferred the small-scale stuff, for which the choice in concrete mixes is particularly key.

Concrete comes in different compositions, some with more aggregate than others. The best results came with dry mortar, the finest mix that delivered the smoothest texture. A large bag can make dozens of projects for less than $10. I bought mine, labeled Spec Mix, at Home Depot, but for those who don’t want to haul a 94-pound bag and are making only a few small projects, the store also had Rapid Set mortar mix in a 25-pound box with an easy-carry handle. You’ll still pay about $10, but your back will thank you and the projects will look just as good. Other recommendations: A large bucket and small trowel for mixing, a second bucket for water to rinse hands, a box of latex or nitrile gloves, a dust mask and eye protection.

A love of experimentation also helps. Over time, I found I liked disposable molds, including a 2-liter soda bottle, above, and 1-gallon water bottle, partly because the molds can be cut away and tossed after the concrete had dried. I even tried a 1-gallon plastic milk jug, and to my amazement the thin handle remained intact as I cut away the mold. What to do with a cast-concrete milk jug? For now, mine will be sitting on my front steps — an imaginary milkman’s daily delivery, placed next to a tray of cupcakes.
