PROVIDING the public with the required health services is one of the
basic needs that any country has to address. In most countries across
the globe, most health systems are characterised by mixed public and
private financing and delivery of care. Greater quality and access calls
for further thinking on the role of the private sector into health
systems and a broader systems perspective on how public and private
sectors can work together to address the challenges of affordability,
quality, and availability of health care and medical services. We offer

Fawaz
Ali Al-Asad, the partner and General Manager of Noor Clinic and part
owner and board member of Al Maidan Clinic, who has been with the
private health sector in Kuwait, in this interview, provides an overview
of the private health sector as a business enterprise and how it
addresses the health needs of the citizens and expatriates,Learn about

issues between the public health sector and private sector, ways on
improving the health care system, the upsurge of dermatology and
cosmetic surgery clinics, the future of Kuwait as the next medical
tourism destination in the region and the establishment of private
research centers in the country for chronic diseases.
It’s like
an adventure because everyday there’s something new, you don’t know what
to expect. Dealing with the health service providers and the end
patients to whom you provide the service. It’s actually an adventure on
both sides, dealing with the health service providers, the technologies,
the doctors, nurses technicians, the business itself that you have to
deal with on a daily basis plus the patients, you don’t know what’s
gonna happen in your clinic. The job in the health sector is not a
routine job. Work in the health sector as I’ve told you is an adventure.
Aside from that, why would a person be in the health sector? It’s a
gift. Not everybody is involved in the health sector. If you’re in it,
you’re in it either by choice or just by heritage. If not, then it’s
difficult to get into. Some knowledge is gained by studying and if you
don’t practice then you put your study to where it should belong can’t
be into it.
Working in the private health sector, I have a
serious goal which is to be one of the most effective private health
service providers in Kuwait and hopefully in the region. Mainly in
Kuwait, because Kuwait itself lacks a lot of the required health
services. Yes, they have it but in a primitive manner. They need to have
it in an up-to-date standard. The bureaucracy in the Ministry of Health
usually inhibits the technological growth. The health sector requires
new technology it’s not like before based on the doctor. It’s now the
doctor plus the technology. What machines the doctor uses? What machines
is the doctor knowledgeable of using? Working in the private health
sector gives me the pleasure of dealing with the best level of people
and one of the top levels of professionals are doctors. They spent their
life studying on how to save mankind. To a certain extent, the beauty
of it, there’s commercial medicine and there’s general medicine and you
combine both, so it gives me a chance to be a businessman and a part of
the community services, that’s why I like it.
If you have a hospital, you have to go to the Ministry of Interior,Learn about the beauty of porcelaintiles.
Ministry of Social Affairs and many other ministries are involved. I
believe that the private health sector should be under the umbrella of
the Ministry of Health only. We should have only one body that licenses
your clinic from A-Z. Yes,Online marketplace for used plasticmoldingonsale
machines. you have to deal with the Municipality but the rest should be
under the Ministry of Health to make your journey shorter. Because the
private health sector requires a lot of money and the more money you
put, the more money it will take. New technologies appear everyday, new
manpower requirements appear everyday based on the services that you
provide. Sometimes new services appear and you want to run after that
and take that opportunity and to bring that service to reality and by
the time you spend all your money into it, you think it’s not worth
spending more.
The second factor is the health insurance system, until it’s not common for people to purchase their personal health insurance.
Corporations
usually buy insurance for their employees and many procedures are not
covered and at the end you find your insurance obsolete unless you pay a
high premium plus it’s not yet in the culture. It’s not marketed. Not
all people know that they could buy health insurance policy and they be
treated in the private sector. And a lack of a standout indoortracking
Systems (IPS) technology. Kuwait for example, the prices that we cover
for the procedures are lower compared to world standards.
